Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering
The Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering is a department that explores the basic and applied technologies necessary to create a wide variety of complex systems, from ultra-small precision machines to aerospace aircraft. After basic education common to mechanical engineering and aerospace engineering, students will study the core fields of specialized education in an environment equipped with cutting-edge equipment and facilities.
Education and research guidance will be provided mainly by faculty members of the Graduate School of Engineering, Department of Mechanical Systems Engineering, Department of Micro-Nano Mechanical Science and Engineering, and Department of Aerospace Engineering, which were also reorganized in 2017. In addition, taking advantage of the fact that the Chukyo region is a global cluster of the mechanical and aerospace industries, a major feature of this department is that it conducts research in close collaboration with private and public research institutions, such as by opening cooperative and endowed courses on campus.
After graduation, students are expected to proceed to graduate school (master's and doctoral courses) to develop and nurture the ability to acquire and develop more advanced knowledge of mechanical and aerospace engineering. After graduating from graduate school, students are expected to play active roles as researchers and engineers who demonstrate leadership roles in private companies, government agencies, educational institutions, and research institutes both in Japan and overseas.
